Busy Valentine's week
Mon 15 February 2010
Scotland, London, the south-west and the West Midlands are said to be the top five most generous regions for Valentine’s Day presents, according to latest research*.
One UK insurer has said that one in five people are planning to buy or receive expensive jewellery on February 14th. Ten per cent of these jewellery gifts are expected to be engagement rings; the price of these could bring a boost to high street jewellery retailers.
Love is in most people’s minds at this time of the year, but it is important to remember to update your
home contents insurance to make sure it covers your new and precious purchases. Jewellery insurance is also recommended to protect your valuable pieces.
Retailers can expect an influx of purchasers buying their Valentine’s Day gifts and cards this week. Aside from jewellery, other popular purchases include flowers and chocolates. Flower deliveries are said to be more difficult on Sunday’s, so some retailers are advising customers to pick them up from the shop themselves**.
