Is a bicycle theft covered by my contents insurance?

Yes, pedal bikes are covered under Regal Contents.

Do I need to specify all of my valuable items such as furniture and stereo equipment?

No. You only need to specify items that are worth more than £5,000 and fall under our definition of ‘Valuable’. We define Valuables as jewellery, watches, furs, items or sets or collections of gold, silver or other precious metals, works of art, sets of stamps or coins or medals all belonging to you or any member of your family.

Can I insure my property if it is let to tenants?

The Regal policy does not provide cover for tenanted properties. However, we are able to offer insurance for buy-to-let properties under a separate policy. Please contact one of our advisers on 0800 519 10 22.

Do you offer a new for old policy?

The Regal Contents policy provides cover on a ‘new for old’ basis as standard.

Do I need to provide proof of ownership for all of my possessions?

No. However, in the event of a claim you may be asked to provide evidence of value and ownership, such as purchase receipts, valuation certificates and instruction manuals.

Can I insure a property that is not my permanent residence?

Yes, we may consider this; however this is subject to terms and conditions (i.e. a non permanent residence such as a let property or holiday home), which will need to meet our underwriting criteria. Please contact one of our team on 0800 519 10 22.

Will having a burglar alarm system reduce my contents premium?

As a new customer you will receive a discount if you have and use an intruder alarm that is installed and maintained by an NSI approved company. If we apply a discount, there will be an expectation that the security measures must be operational at all times, otherwise you may have to pay a heavier excess, or in some cases, the claim may be refused.

If I have a mortgage, will you note the lender’s interest on my policy?

Yes, this will be included on your policy when you take out building cover with us.

Will my policy include any excesses?

Yes, there is a standard excess of £100 for buildings and contents. We also offer a range of voluntary excesses. The excess if you have experienced subsidence, heave or landslip is £1,000.

How do I make a claim on my Home policy?

By telephoning your insurer on the helpline number shown in your policy documentation.

How do I contact Regal Insurance by telephone?

You can contact Regal Insurance by calling this number:
